HeiGIT (Heidelberg Institute for Geoinformation Technology) treibt die Geoinformationstechnologie zum Nutzen von Gesellschaft und Umwelt voran. Wir schließen die Kluft zwischen der Grundlagenforschung in der Geoinformatik und praktischen Anwendungen. Dabei entwickeln wir innovative Werkzeuge und Methoden, wie maßgeschneiderte Geodaten für humanitäre Einsätze und intelligente Routenplanung für Katastrophenhilfe und Klimaschutz.

Durch Fortschritte in der räumlichen Datenverarbeitung und im maschinellen Lernen erweitern und analysieren wir Geodaten wie OpenStreetMap. So stellen wir Forschern, Behörden und gemeinnützigen Organisationen frei zugängliche Werkzeuge und Datensätze zur Verfügung. Die HeiGIT gemeinnützige GmbH wurde 2019 als An-Institut der Universität Heidelberg gegründet und wird von der Klaus Tschira Stiftung getragen.

Unsere Dienste und Werkzeuge verbessern das Verständnis verschiedener Web 2.0-Datenquellen. Mithilfe von räumlichem Data Mining und maschinellem Lernen analysieren, verarbeiten, erweitern und visualisieren wir diese Daten.

Climate Action

Um die Kluft zwischen dem Bewusstsein für den Klimawandel und wirksamen Maßnahmen zu überbrücken, stellen wir handlungsfähige Datenanalysen und konkrete Werkzeuge zur Verfügung.
